Listing
identifying marks for pottery is a challenge. This is because one may wish to look for them by
image or alternatively by a
text name. These pages present
BOTH methods - but they contain slightly different types of information.
For Marks by Images: Each image mark thumbnail is grouped under the name of the California pottery that produced it, in alphabetical order. The thumbnailis hyperlinked - click on it for a larger picture. For more information about the company, click on the name. All of the
"Unknown" marks are grouped together at the end.
For Marks by Text: Each mark is listed as it appears in text, along with variations. Where there is a picture example we have, it is will be hyperlinked parentheses as
"pic". Where we have an existing company / manufacturer gallery for a mark, it is hyperlinked - click on it for more information about the company. Where a mark is not known, it is listed as "Unknown" along with a link to the
Unknowns gallery page.
Where possible, photos of the marks are our own. In some cases, if we don't have any items from the maker, we'll include a temporary snippet to show what it looks like. We
REALLY need photos of marks - so if you would like to contribute a photo for this reference, please
contact us.
Remember: we do not give out values or appraise any pottery.
