Yona Figurine

I’m not personally interested in these type of California pottery figurines from the 40s and 50s, but I know there are a ton of collectors of them out there. In fact, I might have picked this example from Yona Ceramics anyhow because I rarely see them at the thrift at such a reasonable price ($2). But it turns out this entire figurine had been cracked completely in half and then re-glued back together, so I just took a picture for the gallery.
The figure reminds me a lot of Florence Ceramics, Betty Lou Nichols and Hedi Schoop figurines. This is the third or fourth time I’ve seen a piece from Yona and passed on it at the thrift - although usually, I tend to see the dishes as opposed to figurines.

Hi Douglas - I don’t know for sure the age on that item, but it sounds like might be from the 1960s from your description. If you’d like, post it up on the Flickr group. It’s difficult to tell with a lot of these items from Calif Originals, I think because they made some items for extended periods of time, and because they made so many different ones.
