Upcoming Los Angeles Pottery Show
The 11th Annual Los Angeles Pottery Show is happening in just a few weeks. You might remember that we had a good time covering last year’s event. Unfortunately, we may not be able to attend it this year - but if you haven’t gotten a chance to check it out, and you’re in the area, it’s worth your while.
It’s being held in the Pasadena Convention Center over the weekend of January 23-24. Tickets should be $12 again, with a discount available on their website. Like last year, David Rago and Suzanne Perrault from the Antiques Roadshow will be on hand to appraise any pottery that you bring in, with a $5 donation per item going to benefit Homeboy Industries. Vendors will feature both newer and modern pottery covering a range of different styles from older art pottery to modern dinnerware.
One item of note for this particular year. The great Barbara Willis, who we met at last year’s event, will be retiring after many years of creating amazing pottery. She’s also exhibited at every Los Angeles Pottery show since its inception. Supposedly, she’ll be selling all current inventory she has (and it also says they may be selling her kiln?!) at the show and will be relocating out of SoCal to be closer to family. If you would like to meet or talk with her in person, this might be your last chance to do so.
