I picked up this Bauer mixing bowl at the thrift the other day. Actually, I almost didn’t get it, because I wasn’t entirely sure if it was Bauer. It had the familiar rings and shape that their ringware is known for, and had a single number “36″ on base which I’ve seen on other mixing bowls, including a blue #30 I found earlier.

However, the rings at the rim at the top of the bowl didn’t seem right. In addition, the yellow color seemed a little off from another Bauer vase that I have. Also, this bowl didn’t have the three (or in some cases, two) rings on the INTERIOR of the bowl. But a quick look in some of the Bauer books confirmed that Hi-Fire mixing bowls didn’t have the rings on the inside of the bowl, and the Hi-Fire color of yellow seemed about right.

Since the number of the bottom also matches up with the smallest size 5″ mixing bowl number, I’m fairly sure that it is indeed Bauer. I don’t know the numbers by heart, but again, looking it up in a book confirmed it was the right number. It’s nice to still be able to find Bauer in the thrift stores occasionally.

Update 9/2009: Oops, I may have spoke too soon. I had a feeling there was something wrong with it being Bauer, and a friend on Flickr said the same. I thought the number on the bottom would be the confirming factor, but apparently not. Now, the question is: who made it?
