I picked up this nice ceramic quail that I believe was made by the Roselane Pottery. It features a nice gradation of glaze on the body, probably applied with some sort of spray apparatus. I’d earlier found Roselane Doves with the same sort of markings.

Note that these are sometimes confused with Howard Pierce and other manufacturers. One way to tell them apart from Howard Pierce is that as far as I know, Pierce ceramics rarely use “applied” eyes like this Roselane quail has. This is not to say that other manufacturers did not use these type of eyes, but in general, it’s a good way to distinguish between Howard Pierce and Roselane.

Also, remember that on occasion you’ll see Roselane items labeled with stickers from Hagen-Renaker. This is because that company contracted with Roselane to help sell some of their lines.
