I found this handmade stoneware flower pot by the great Robert Maxwell this past summer, but I didn’t take photos of it until now. (Side note, I also have a Robert Maxwell cast vase that I had taken out today in order to get some photos for the gallery. I can’t believe it, but I DROPPED it. So now that has a hairline crack. Sad face…)

The swap meet seller that I got this flower pot from actually threw in an unmarked stoneware saucer that I forgot to take a photo of - but I don’t think that saucer was made by Maxwell. It’s similar, but the clay composition is different.

I’ve been meaning to put up the gallery for Maxwell for almost a year now, but just didn’t get around to it. Also, there is already an amazing document online that details Robert Maxwell’s pottery career, so I didn’t feel there was a rush to put up a separate gallery.

I only have a few Robert Maxwell pieces. I actually have quite a bit of the copycat Pottery Craft / Treasure Craft stuff that I’ve been meaning to photograph one of these days for the blog. But I definitely treasure the Maxwell pieces more. Incidentally, Robert Maxwell is still producing pottery today, and actually works as an instructor at an elementary school - coincidentally just a few miles from where we live!
