Otto Heino in L.A. Times

There was an article on Otto Heino yesterday in the LA Times. I’d heard his name mentioned before but never really paid attention until I happened to read the article in a newspaper that someone left behind at the restaurant I was eating at.
He’s a famous California studio potter from Ojai who has been creating amazing pottery along with his wife Vivika since the 1950s. I think a lot of his stuff has been getting more and more popular because midcentury modern items have really taken off in the last few years. He’s also pretty famous for creating a high-temperature yellow glaze that everyone had been trying to make - the recipe is supposedly a highly guarded secret and the pots with that glaze can sell for 25 grand and up.
But thankfully not everything is that expensive. He has a website and also sells more reasonable pieces directly from “The Pottery” where his workshop is.
