Because we already collect so many different lines of California pottery, I often pass up examples of Metlox Colorstax. However, I’ll often grab the mugs if I see them. This is a later Metlox line that was a re-introduction of the solid color dinnerware that was so popular in the 30s and 40s (i.e. Bauer, Fiestaware). It ended up being a late success for the company and lasted until the company closed shop in 1989.

Mugs are usually not marked on the bottom, as far as I know. This is one of the reasons I tend to see them around more often than not. I know the shape and colors by now, so it isn’t too hard to recognize them.
