I came across this peculiar bowl by Kellems of Pasadena a few months back. I didn’t pick it up at the time because it was chipped, and we have an excess of California pottery bowls at our house. However, now I’m wondering if I should’ve picked it up. The backstamp read Kellems Pasadena, copyright Bob Clampett. I had no idea who that was, and in fact I thought perhaps it was the name of a celebrity caricatured on the front of the bowl. I’ve since discovered that Clampett was a well known animator at Warner Brothers who worked on Looney Tunes in the 1940s. Well, at least I did get some photos of the bowl.
