Howard Pierce Blue Chickadee Bird

As we’ve said previously, we’re huge fans of Howard Pierce figurines. We made sure to keep an eye out for his ceramics on our trip up the California coast. While we ended up not buying any, we did see a few pieces - some commonplace and others more unusual. We saw a huge amount of quail. Clearly these were popular items. In fact, birds are the type of Pierce animal figurine that we come across most commonly.
We spotted this chickadee with an unusual matte blue glaze at an antique store in Los Alamos, CA. We actually have this exact bird, but in the standard brown and white glaze. I don’t see the blue items as much, although I know quite a few of the later pieces made in the 90s were produced in blue. We ended up passing on this bird and just taking a photo for posterity.
Bonus spotting: Roselane Sparkler doggy in the background…
