Guppy Handled Vase

Continuing on our roadtrip roundup, we spotted this unusual two handle vase made by Guppy in an antique mall in San Luis Obispo. I actually came very close to purchasing it, but in the end, I decided that I didn’t need it since we already had several examples of Guppy ware.
I’m regretting not purchasing it just a little bit, since it was such an unusual shape with the two handles. Also, it was a rather small vase, so it wouldn’t have taken up too much room. We’ve made an effort to avoid buying enormous California pottery platters (famous last words, I just bought another 13 inch platter today, haha), ashtrays or planters unless they’re extremely rare or valuable.
I’m not sure what the pattern is on this vase - it looks similar to the drip glaze of Western Way, and the shape seems plausible. But I don’t think I saw this particular shape in any of the books yet. Well, if we ever go up to SLO again and the vase is still there, maybe it’ll come back home with us.
Update 8/2009: It appears that this may actually be a sugar from a Guppy sugar and creamer set - interesting.
