Gainey Ceramics Azalea Pot

At the time I picked up this large heavy speckled glaze pot, I had no idea who had made it. I just picked it up to plant a cactus that we had. It had an unglazed reddish clay bottom, and I thought it might be a newer pot because it was in excellent condition. Early candidates included Architectural Pottery and Gainey Ceramics. Sure enough, a quick perusal of their website identified it as an Azalea Planter.
This is the AZ-08 model and measure 5 1/2″ tall. While it’s the smallest in the line (they go up to 22 inches tall), it’s a rather solid pot and weighs almost five pounds. I like the speckled Oatmeal glaze on it, which reminds me of some of the older mid-century Metlox items. I believe Gainey also makes these pots in Fiberglass, but we prefer the ceramic ones.
