Although I did miss posting about the annual Catalina Island Pottery & Tile Collectors Show which was held this past Saturday at the Metropole on Santa Catalina Island, I wanted to get the word out about the “Catalina Pottery and Tile Extravaganza” being held by the museum. This exhibit is being held until the end of September, having started on August 1.

The showing of Catalina Clay Products Tile and Pottery is a year round exhibit, but for the extravaganza they make room to show more of this famous California pottery.

I have always wanted to check out the museum, both for the pottery and to learn more about the history of the island. But unfortunately, we get horribly seasick! And the only way to get to the island is by ferry or airplane. I did visit the island once when I was very young, but that was for a fishing trip. I spent the majority of the time keeled over the side of the boat feeding my lunch back to the fish, hehe. So we’re just a little hesitant to make the trip anytime soon.
