An Ideal Platter

I’ve decided to start posting more cameraphone pictures of California pottery spotted at the thrift stores and estate sales that I didn’t purchase. As I’ve said many times before, I just can’t handle collecting every single California company. Not only that, but it would be a real drain on my wallet!
In addition, I’ve wanted to start a “thrifting” blog for awhile now. But I think I’ll simply start posting about these thrift store sightings here on Potteries of California (well, as long as they have anything to do with Calif pottery). And hopefully, it’ll make the site a little more conversational instead of a straight-up information resource. Not that being considered a resource is a bad thing. =)
I saw this Ideal Pottery divided platter at the thrift a few months back. Previously, I’d seen a couple of different items marked Ideal in auctions and in the Flickr group. It wasn’t too pricey, but I passed, because my new rule is that I can’t buy any large flat items (platters, plates, long planters, etc) unless I’m really collecting that company. They just take up too much space. Nevertheless, I snapped a photo of it for the archives. We don’t have any information on the Ideal company - if you happen to know anything about them, please let me know.

a) I love your blog; and b) please do post more thrifting pictures–it’s always interesting to see what turns up out there.

@emily - thanks for the nice words! I’m definitely going to post more thrifting pics in the future, I definitely can’t buy too many more platters and plates but I’d like to show them on the site.
