Nearly all of the items I’ve seen from the Ceramicraft company have been wall pockets or wall decorations, with a focus on bathroom accessories. Fish seem to be the most popular, although birds and musical notes also show up. Their fish wall plaques sets, often complete with bubbles, were extremely popular in the 50s and have experienced rebirth with collectors looking to fix up their bathrooms with kitchsy decor.
The company was from San Clemente, a beachside town just south of San Juan Capistrano. I’ve driven through the town a few times going south on the 5 fwy toward the San Diego area. I’m not aware of any other company information. Apparently, their focus was pretty narrow and only focused on these bathroom decorations. Most items are ink stamped with some variation of Ceramicraft and San Clemente, often with the line name “Tropic Treasures”.
Note, this company should not be confused with Ceramic Originals, the Laguna Beach based Freeman-Leidy collaboration.
